Arubian Ceviche, Grilled Crab and Corn Quesadilla, and Grouper
"Just imagine fresh fish caught that morning from the sparkling clear waters off the Aruban coast. Add to that imported Argentine meats, hand selected by the chef. Mix delicately with the herbs, spices and traditional ingredients of the Caribbean and finally combine it all with the knowledge and skill of a European trained chef. The result is a menu of dishes that can not be found anywhere else on the island - or the world for that matter. Aruban dishes are infused with a touch of Spain or Portugal. Old favorites from neighboring islands are, perhaps, given a new twist with splash of a wine from Germany or a hint of seasonings reminiscent of Italy. A truly unique blend of international styles and ingredients will leave your belly full, your taste buds in awe and your dining psyche blissfully content." - Wacky Wahoo's
My first night in Aruba we dined at this delicious restaurant, Wacky Wahoo's. The food was hands down amazing. The ingredients are so fresh and the recipes are not outrageous nor cluttered...you are tasting what it says on the menu with nothing trying to overpower or cover it up. I thoroughly enjoyed dining here and defnitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for Caribbean ingredients infused with Spain and Portugal. There is something to be said about an owner who is the chef of the restaurant. I find they always have more heart and pay more attention to detail. The owner, Harald, is a prime example of that. We enjoyed Arubian ceviche, grilled crab and corn quesadilla, and their catch of the day, grouper. Next time I am back in Aruba I will definitely be dining here! Arubian Ceviche: An assortment of marinated local fish and seafood flavored with fresh lime and cilantro.
Grilled Crab and Corn Quesadilla: A Mexican class, grilled crab meat, corn and Mexican cheeses. (Couldn't remember exact ingredients).
Grouper - catch of the day: Buttered grouper with shrimp, mixed vegetables, fried plantains and crab cake. (Couldn't remember exact ingredients but it was the best fish I had on the island!).
